What a small world!! I don't know if you remember me or not, but Garrett photographed my wedding 5 years ago in Orlando (Oviedo). We have a little girl now who turns 1 in December and we are doing the "cute as a button" theme, so I was searching for some ideas and I saw your little girl and thought, "wow she is so cute", then saw you in one of your pics and thought, "is that Garrett's wife?" Sure enough it is you! I hope you all are well! I still brag to all my friends about Garrett's photos from our wedding! They were such a blessing!

Wow Joy... this is by far one of the most precious little birthday celebrations I've ever seen. Love the button theme. The cake, the mini button cookies and those favor bags... beyond adorable. You really did an incredible job and Campbell is cute as a button. Hooray for baby girl birthday parties!

Whew. My work days are a walk in the park compared to what you just did. HOW do you find time for all this?

I absolutely love this party! Such a cute theme and the colors are so pretty. I would love the veggie burger recipe if he's willing to share. :) Beautiful party!

Wow - how AMAZING and CUTE (as a button) did everything turn out!!? Such gorgeous details - you may have to start fighting off moms who want to hire you to plan their parties now! Oh and that cake - soooo cute!!

Um wow! That was quite the birthday bash! Lots of time and creativity went into that. What a mom. I can only imagine their sweet 16 parties. Better start planning now-ha. ;-)
March 10 2011 at 09:18
AMAZING! LOVELY! SWEET! PERFECT! This party looks like everything I expected and even more! You guys did a wonderful job and Campbell is one very very lucky girl! Seriously, GORGEOUS!
And I 2nd the "hire a photographer to shoot the event" advice. With my baby shower being this past weekend and having zero images of me with guests and some details missed I am very sad. Even if you are a photographer it is extremely hard to take the time to photograph while entertaining. BIG regret that makes me very sad and like you said, lesson learned.
Again - INCREDIBLE! I am inspired and you are the mom I look up to Joy! Hope I can throw a fabulous party like this someday for my little girl! :)

I am just now seeing this post, for some reason, and have to comment. I saw this above your desk the last time I was there with the kids and I LOVED it. Now I love it even more knowing that Garrett made it specifically for you. How special! :)

Wow. I'm wowed not only by this sweet, sweet gesture from Garrett... but how strongly this resembles the person he gave this gift to. Beautiful words from Audrey Hepburn. Thank you for sharing it with us!

Love the wall color. Have been contemplating purple in my dining room for a year now. Nice to see it in these pictures. Love the white frames with black and white photos. Told two of my girlfriends about my idea of purple...don't think they liked the idea as much. I think I'll keep it to myself. What is the actual paint color?
February 09 2011 at 11:40
So pretty! I love all the family photos and the white frames look perfect with the plum paint!

Gorgeous! Love the wall color and the white frames. I was just going through a box of old frames last week, trying to decided what to do with them, and had decided on dropping them off at Goodwill. I never considered painting them all the same color and using them again. Great idea. Maybe I'll hang on to them a little longer in case inspiration strikes...

LOVE this so much!! I agree 100% on making other rooms a library too. We're in the process of moving our "library" of shelves from the master bedroom to the basement now that we're finally finishing it. We'll have one set in the hallway nook, and another set of built in shelves in the "gym"!

This is amazing. And all of those things, I do already think about. Except number one. I can't let go of the large celebrations for each child on their special day. And maybe this is due to the fact that we have no family in town and their friends are like their family. Close-knit. We don't do parties outside of our home. They will almost always be here as a rule. :)
I will have to link back to your post somewhere. Every parent should read this!!!
